WARM CONTE — A Political Wrestle in Van's Opera House —No Sawdust on the Floor, “Now, by St. Paul, the work goes bravely on.” Wednesday night at Van's Opera House there will be an election of three, delegates to the Re publican Telegraph : State Convention, the same Jelegates also being accredited to the second district convention that will nominate a candidate for representative in Congress, There are two tickets before the voters, and both are composed of men who are unpledged as to Kepresentatives. Before the congressional convention, at Sacramento on the 26th of this month, there will be only two candidates, for representatives. These are: : Grove L, Johnson of Sacramento, and John KF, Davis of Calaveras. One of the tickets for delegates will be Hon, William George, D. B. Marwick and John M. Thomas. These gentlemen are suppesed to be for Grove Juhnson. The other ticket is D. D. Bowman, T. C, Hocking and ©. FE, Uren. These are supposed to favor John F. Davis, . The ticket that falls will fall hard, for the contest will be warm, There is no sawdust on this wrestling arena to soften the fall. : We suppose that the Democratic, Prohibition and Peoples parties will not be in the fight and may act as sticklers and see fair play. ‘*May the best man win,” for this district is strongly Republican and we want the best Representative that.can be had. One hundred and seventy-six votes were cast and the Davis men came off victorio 8, Uren, Bowman and Hocking being elected. The vote stood as follows: Bowman 111, Uren 106, Hocking 105, George 78, Thomas 58, Marwick 54, aes +282 The Masonic Home. E. M. In addition to the gift of Mr. Whitney the sitizens of ft lacer county offer a bonus of $5,000 if the Home is located there. The members of the.
