A Few: loducements Which Nevada County
Offers to Sefilers.
»O
During the past few weeks the TRANscrirt has received about a dozen letters
from as Many different States asking for
thevinformatien herein contained, and to
save letter writing is the reason for this
publication:
First--Large areas of fertile lands, seeured by Government patent, can be purchased at such reasonable figures that a few
hundred dollars is sufficient to pay for a
gmall farnt. :
Second—The standard fruits grown 10
this county are the finest of their varieties
grown in the world, They are of a superior
favor and have a firmness’ of texture that
gives. them better shipping and keeping
qualities than those grown at lower alti
tudes, and they fiud a ready market at re-.]
munerative prices.
Third—The long summers permit of they”
rotation of crops,/and the raising of two and
even three different crops from the same
land in a single season.
Fourth—There is a ready market for all
farm products at good prices.
Fifth—There are excellent means of trans:
portation, the railway penetrating the central portion of the county. :
Sixth—There is an abundance of timber.
Seventh—There is an inexhaustible supply-of pure-water, both for irrigating and
domestic purposes. ~
tighth—The temperature is mild, both
in summer and winter, and is not subject to
sudden changes.
Ninth—The climate will cempare favorably with that of any other section of the .
Pacific Coast, even with the most favored,
there being no malaria with its resulting
chills and fever, no violeut winds, no fogs,
uor floods. .
Tenth—The children reared in this climate and at this altitude above the sea usually acquire better physical constitutions, .
with more plumpness and firnthess of muscular development as well as color and vi--+ tality of +the-blood-than those reared in the. oa
valley or even: coast counties. :

SINGER SEWING MACF INES
This machine is made after. the Jatets modes rtom
Singer Machines, and is a perfect fac-simile tin make, of
namentation and appearance. All the parts are made to
gauge exactly the same as the Singer, and are constructed
of precisely the same materials. :
The Chicago Singer Machine: have every important improvement in a /oose balance wheel so constructed as to
premit winding bobbins without removing the work from
the machine. :
The loose balance wheel is actuated by a solid bolt pass.
ing through a collar securely pinned to the shaft outside
of the balance wheel, which bolt is held to position by a
strong spiral spring. When a bobbin is to be wound the
bolt is julled out enough to release the balance wheel,
and turned slightly to the right or left. where it is held by
a stop-pin till the . bobbin is filled. When the machine is
liable to be meddled with by children, the bolt can be left
out. of the wheel when not in use, so that the machine
cannot be operated by the treadle, :
The driving w.1eel on this machine is admitted to be the
running and most convenient of any. The machine is sabthoeeton uae ie
very best tension and thread liberator, is made of the best maerial, with the
wearing parts hardened, and is finished in a superior styelt, ‘le has ve
