ce AD emcee ee We ONE, cs ics cass ss oss $7.00 PER WEEK....-----+--++ 15 cts. SUNDAY, SEPT. 26, 1886. Bl ' NOT EAGER FOR THE FRAY. The Democratic county convention at this city yesterday was to say the least exceedingly anomalous. The offices as a general thing sought the men, instead of the men seeking the offices with that avidity which is commonly characteristic of such occasions. Instead of a rush to get the nominations, there was ghastly and grim precipitancy “displayed in trying to escape them. The older and more experienced of the party never before displayed so much G.rselfishness at a corresponding time of the year. With few exceptions they magnanimously urged the less wary to step into the breach, and the bait was swallowed every time although in most instances reluctantly and with an air ofsuspicion. The factis, there . is a decided lack of confidence in party success among the Democrata of Nevada county this Fall. signal for the Republicans ceasing work. There are on the Democratic ticket some candidates who because of their personal popularity can be defeated only by the most vigorots and unflagging effort. If the Republicans begin to flatter themselves that they have an easy fight ahead, and fool along the roadside of the campaign too leisurely, the heart-rending story of the Hare and the Tortoise may have a modern exemplification that will be exceedingly trying to their nerves. : Se NEN ST ae She who Would Be The Queen of Beauty. must look to her teeth, for a pretty mouth. is indispensal:le to female loveliness Brush your teeth varefully with fragrant SOZODONT and you will be charmed with the result, for it is without equal as a dentrifice. * For nervousness Dr. Gunn’s Bitters is the best remedy in the wide world, .
