STOCKTON, May 24, 1855.
Dear Sir:—Having entirely recovered fiom my sickness, J avail myself to this opportunity to return my
thankful acknowledgments for the relief that vou

loss of memory, confusion of ideas, dislike for society,
nocturnal emissions, and many other symptoms,
which had made my life miserable ; I can express the
gratitude I feel, for my existence had become a burthen to me, and nothing afforded the least gratification, whilst now I feel perfectly well, and can enjoy

Frazer River Quaxtz.—The Editor of
the Alta has examined a specimen of Frazer
River quartz which he describes as follows =
. “The quartz is of a dull reenish white
color, from which the gold ouaee rut hy pa
. ers of fine lamin, mixed with oxidized sul. phuret of iron. The specimen seems to. be
thoroughly impregnated with sulphur, which.
. marks the quartz clearly on its edges like
a third layer Ina lead—goid decomposed:
sulpburet of iron, and sulphur. The quartz
. itself is as hard as feldspar in some portions,
whilst in others it partakes of the character. istics of linrestone.”’
The description is not very intelligible,
. but may be of some interest ag the first ex.
hibited in California.
