Fruit Agency, No. 21 Commercial street,
covered our editorial table, yesterday morning, with a grand lay out of magnum banum

to the Democrat, that paper having put in
the lowest bid. The bids were as follows:

New Brewery.—We understand a new
brewery is soon tobe put up on Spring street,
by L. W. Dreyfuss. We row have three
breweries im Nevada but they don’t seem to

institution and should be encouraged.
‘WEAKENED.—Messrs. Chauvel and Tompkins, yesterday, undertook to submerge each
other with twenty-five feet of hose. Aftera
pretty fair struggle, Chauvel caved. Hé

all the water Chauvel knows anything aheut

CIGARS.—Contrary to expectation the price of
cigars declines, and the manufacture is much dePressed. Under the idea that the slave States
furnished the raw material it was supposed that
cigar making would become a costly luxury ; but
of late years the tobacco. for cigars has been
grown in the free States—Conneetietit, New

of material, while Richmond .x¢mains the great
