ConresT.—Col. Forney, himself a Demo. er abe peal ‘the opposition is t sible till the next Prea:dential struggle, when . they will act in concert with the present " Jeaders in rebellion and restore those leaders to ascendency again in the councils of . * the nation. It is*on this policy, no doubt, that the so-called. Democratic party in the mora for the country than the name of a party snd cannot split hairs with the Administration when the count ry is in danger, are content to support the Government without quérulousness. ‘The segregation of such Democrats from the others who intend to be honest and true, but’ who are so wedded to party dames and abstractions that they are with the party name aud organization, and to be swallowed up orindirectly used by a large clasa that is. veally heart and soul in _ sympathy with the Southern Covfederacy.— If every man Who claims to be a Democrat in the land was banded in one organization, there would be enough true, but, perhaps, liable to be misguided patriots, to control it in all the loyal States. Some secessionists would by deception and dupticity, professing “to be Union men when they are net, occasionally be advanced to positions of honor and trust, but in the main loyal men at heart would receive tho suffrages of the party. But the hundreds of thousands of Demo crats who, under the leadership of such meu as Dickinson, Andy Johnson, Joseph’ Holt, Geerge Baucro(t, Gen: Butler, and scores of other old-time Democrats, have come to the support of the Administration as the “most direct means of ending the rebellion honorably to the nation, leave a budy of prejudiced but honest Union Democrats to be fooled and misled by a larger body of men whose political erganization the Vallandighans and the Woods are the legitimate repr-sentatives, We regnrd the Democratic party of to-day as vastly too much under ¥ influence of such exponents as Fernando Wvod to be considered a healthy Union organization. No the name of Union men and with honest in tent throw the weight of their influence uninduce a serious questioning of a leval man’s eonscience, whether his connection with such enemies of the Government could be productive of good results, or whether he did not occupy a position Jiable to be false to hims-If and dangerous to the public good. iéntun organization-.as pos-" ‘tp Sl OCR RSRRNSTERES arr " War News.—The news published in the 4 ap yesterday,-is of an unsatisfactory sand strong in the vicinity of Fredericksburg. ie news {rom the head quarters of t1e ary of the Potomac shows. our troops have had no @asy job before them, “though tbe ‘information ‘received is vague and unsatistactory.
