“who robbed Mr. John Seely a short time
@f the kingdom,] he divided m such « manTUESDAY MORNING, OCT. 28.
Ropsery.—. named Joba Murphy,
Iitmoia Bar roxd gn Sunday night. Murpby
had been at "s Fiat during the day.
While there he was introduced to two men.
Ee started back wm the afternoow and while
stopping at a hotel on the road to get supper,
the two men came up, and passed on abend.
Near Rock Creek, the men beaded him and
ordered bum to shell out. He had but eleven
at the same time saying he had no more. He
was obliged to get down from his horse, and
was eearched. The were apparently satisfied. But when he bad mounted, one
of them teld the other to pull off Murphy's
boote. The right boot was pulled off and
nothing found. Unable to pull on the boot
while ou horseback, Murphy got down again,
and while dewn, the robbers pulled off the
ether boot and found the remainder of the
money. One of the rebbers had a pistol ;;
the other was to all appearance enarmed.
Murphy is a resident of this city.
RuNAWAY—Narrow Escare. Mr. Robert Busenius and wife started from their
house above the Methodist Church about 3
w'clock on Sunday, to take a little ride in a
buggy with a pair of emgrant hurses before
it. Coming down Broad stre-t ala fair rate
of speed, Mr. Busenius attempted to turn
at the drag store-curner to go towards the
suspension bridge, -but the horses would not
be guided but slightly by the bit. They run
against the awning postin front of Beckm -n’s
& Bran's Saloon. Busenius was thrown suddenly to the ground, and the fore whecl of
ing to rise, the hiad wheel knocked him down
again and passed over him also The reins
were drawn from his hands, and the horses
went down the street at full speed with the
tady still in the carriage. Near the Brovd
atreet’ bridge the pole got down and struck,
throwing Mrs. B., owt. The carriage parted
from the horses and capsized completely.
Mrs. B., went off the ground without any as
sistance, smiling, a8 if not injured at all, but
we lewrn her system received a severe shock
by the fall. Busenitus was yesterday making
thé “emigrants” earn their living, asif hie
injuries were not of a serious character. The {.
escape of ‘both was wonderful.
‘(rSamuel Warcox, alias ‘‘Sait Lake,”
since, was brought. to tewnen Suntay and
confined in the county jail. He isan escaped
conviet and was to the State prison ‘or an assault with intent to commit’ robbery in El
Dorado county. ~After robbing Mr. Seely he
went to Carson city where he was arrested.
“Sult Lake” came to this State from Indiana.
TRAIN OF TeEAMS.—~A train of fifteen heavily loaded teams passed through tewn o7 Sunday morning for Washoe. _ One of the teams
was hauling a large boiler which, we were
told, came from near Forest Hill in Placer
county. The teamsters were well acquainted with the various routes across the mountains and chose this as the best of al) for
hauling the heaviest lends over.
Ov. CHAUVAL, 4 long time citizen of Nevaca, is gving to open a Hotel de Paris at
Virginia City. The landmarks of the town
are fast fading away. ,
OVERLAND MatL.— Letters came to town
on Sunday nigtit, by the Overland mail, twenty-one days from New York.
L¥"The District Court met yesterday ‘and
adjourned till Saturday. i
