NEVADA COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY: NEWSPAPER PROJECT Page Format: The example attached is created in Microsoft Word, via an 8-column table. Heading font is Abadi MT Condensed, bold. Content font is Times New Roman, size 8. Page numbers are inserted, bottom right of each page. Column Formats: Name of Person(s): left justified; if too much to fit on one line, do “hard return” and indent 2™ line Event Type: centered Event Date: centered Event Place: centered Newspaper: don’t abbreviate or ditto (due to ending sort, rows won’t be in same place) Paper Date: enter in genealogical format; e.g. 01 Jan 2004 Pg No and Col No: centered Data Entry Method: Add each new entry at the end of what is already entered. When all have been entered, go to the Table tool and select sort. Select the order of the sort, then choose “Options” and be sure “sort column only” is NOT selected. This ® will alphabetize all columns of each row in the column you have selected (Name). Putting it all Together: One person should collect all entries and finalize the project. Executive Committee should make decisions about presentation, distribution, etc. Laurel Knapp 5-5-04
