Ths slater of Bicvoriive 4 es John Porcher, S ‘Grand Secretary Lunstedt presented the following communication; ~ San Franorsoo, April 18, 1898. Henry Lunstedt, Esq., Grand Seeretary of the N. 8. W., Native Sone’ Hall, Mason Street, San Francisco. Dear Sir:—I desire again to call to your attention a matter discussed by Mr. Abbott Kintey and myself with you a short time since, and beg that you will bring the matter to the attention of the Grand Parlor during its ‘coming session; that is that the Graud Parlor should hold its next session in the Yosemite Valley. Proper accommodations will be arranged for the Parlor while in the Valley, and while fwé cannot guarantee any particular rate for transportation into the Valley, we have Bvery reason to believe that the rates that, will be quoted in case of such a meeting in the Valley next year will be at least as good, if not better, than thdse quoted this year for members of the order generally. The beauties of the Valley are not as well known to Californians generally ‘as they should be, and we think that the Grand Parlor would set a laudable example to the rest of Californians if they would hold a session in the Valey. Ou motion of Past Grand President, The Year's Sweetheart...... follows: “Native Sons of the Golden West—organized July 4. 1875—Loyalty.” . GRAND OFFICERS. Henry Lunstept, Secretary. The following letter was read and referred to State of the Order: San Franoisco, Cal., September 30, 1897. Dear Sirand Brother: It has become generally accepted as a fact among the Parlors of the Native Sons of the Golden West, that the celebration 01 Sept. 9th, 1900, which will be held in San Francisco, will be one of great nitude. ny of the Parlors of this city and ‘elsewhere are already formulating plans for that event, aud it would seem that the time is not ata very great distance when the order as a body will be lending its efforts towards devising ways and ve for the most attractsed manner of carrying on the celebration. National Parlor No. 118; takes this occasion, therefore, to cali to the attention of the Order at large, that during the celebration, a pleasing and attractive feature would bea marine demonstration by the Government war ships in the harbor of San Francisco, and we therefore propose, that as soon as pee this matter be taken in and and by bringing the proper infinence to bear upon the Government at Washington, through our Congressmen, our Senators, and if possible through our Cabinet officers, that they prevail upon the Secretary of the Navy to order as many vessels, as he consistently can, to congregate in the bay of San Francisco,:at that time, and for the purpose spoken of. Such a demonstration would undoubtedly be of great interest to all mombers of the {order participating in the celebration, ~ but especially woaid it bs so to-brothers who reside in the interier of the State.
