The Truckee Republican Sold.
F. M. Rutherford, Principal of the
Truckee public schools, and Charles
M. Byan of that place, have purchased
the Truckee Republican from Willard
P. Calkins, and will continue it as a
semi-weekly paper. Mr. Calkins has
been editor and proprietor of the paper
for the past three years and a half, and
has made a good paper of it and been
very successful. He intends to go
below and embark in business, and
being a popular, wide-awake young
man, he will doubtless meet with success. Aside from his newspaper career
he has figured some in politics, being
the Republican candidate for County
Clerk two years ago.
The new proprietors of the Republican are fully competent to conduct the
paper. Mr. Ryan is a practical printer
and has been employed in the office for
some time. We wish them success.
