A Wonderful Cure. ‘Thave been suffering with thet Catarrh for over twenty years. Have had-'catarrh of ‘the stomagh for over five years. Last year had-Gastric Catarrh of the stomach in its worst form, I also had the Intercostic ‘Neuralgia of the stomach and bowels from which . suffered constantly and at times so severely that it seemed I could not endure it. Medicine failed to give me any relief; my friends all thought 1 must die. : Less than four months ago I put on what is known as the Magnetic Conservative Garments, The piece I used was the piece that covers the chest and lungs, both front and back, body belt, insoles in my shoes and used the Actina for the catarrh. I consider myself cured of the Catarrh and in less than two weeks from the time I put on-the garments; the neuralgia was all gone and I have not: felt it any since. I have procured garments for at least a dozen or more in Nevada City and all have reported to me that they are constantly improving ; one party in particular who has been suffering from catarrh and kidney trouble for the last twelve years. The lower part of his limbs swelled badly and he could not stand up more than an bour at atime. Less than three months ago he put on the chest and lung invigorator, body belt and leggings and now he works all day at his trade and his limbs do not swell at all. I need not go before a Notary Public to qualify to the above, as there are bundreds that can testify tothe truth of the above statement, : I am agent for the New York and London Electric Association and anyone wishing a pamphlet or any information regarding any ailment they may have, will receive it free by addressing ; J. The Dead Letter Office Will Get a Great Many Now. First Assistant Postmaster General Jones says that the Postoffice Department has already begun to experience the approach of the holidays in the matter of packages containing presents, these being packages sent abroad thus early in order to reach their destination in ample time. As the time gets nearer he says that the Dead-Letter. Office will have a large number of these packages which have been missent. Mr. Jones, who appreciates the sentiment expressed in most every Christmas gift, hopes by acircular~he has issued to lessen the number of packagesthat go estray each year. The circular urges persons who mail such packages to be careful and see that the necessary amount of postage has been paid and the article has been properly addressed. He has just had occasion to write a letter to a person in South Africa, telling him that a certain package is held for postThe package had been sealed or there would be enough postage to pay its‘way, As it is the map in South Africa can, by remitting a dollar and a half; receive a 50ceut necktie, ‘There was“in the Postottice not long ago a package of photographs, They were unsealéd and. without writing the postage wotild have beet 11 cents, but the age of a child was written upon one, and it was over two dollars, Another instance recalled by Mr, Jones a the case of a package in tin, addressed The postage was It was a can of cranage. over three dollars, berries. Mr, Jones says he scarcely hopes to edu~ cate the people, but he hopes his may save some packages and presents from going estrdy, and for that reason he sent them out to be posted in every office, asking of people to look more carefully into the regulations relating to postage, and see that their parcels are properly mailed. <9 e@e ee A New Pipe. J. A. Higgins of Grass Valley was in town yesterday and exhibited to some of our citizens samples of the smoking pipe invented by him and on which he is about to obtain a patent. He called at the TranscRIPT office and left some of the pipes, which our typos have tried aud pronounce the coolest, sweetest smokers they ever used. The pipes are made ef pine wood, so constructed as to absorb the nicotine and moisture. When the pipe becomes strong it may be cleaused without injury by dropping the bowl into boiling water for a little while and then drying it out, The wood of which the pipes are made grows in Nevada county, L, B. Weeks has been appointed agent for the sale of the pipes in this city, Extremists. The extremist orginates, the conservative prepetuates. The extremist reforms, the conservative preserves. The extremist is power, thé conservative is control, Theextremist is enthusiasm, the conservative is judgment. The’ extremist lives in the future, the conservative lives in the past. The extremist is tempted to optimism, the conservative is tempted to possimism. The extremist is in danger of becoming a fanatic, the conservative is in danger of becoming a fossil.—Rev, James I. Vance, Presbyterian, Nashville, Tenn. é A Quiet Place. The other day a man went into a certain grocery store and asked if he could rest The proprietor, who had just found a new born nest of mice in the coffee grinder, told the man he could, and then asked him why he didn’t go to the hotel, The man replied: ‘'I am suffering from nervous prostration, and the doctor said I was to get a quiet place to rest, and J see you don’t advertise. I knew I couldn’t find a quieter place,” And with that he settled back in his chair and watched the swallows build a nest in the cheese case, —_—— —-——+ e@o o-———— ---— Salted Almonds. four or five hours.
