Franchise to construct, maintain and operate a
manufactory of gas for illumination in eaid
City of Nevada, and to lay pipe or conduits for
the purpose of conducting gas through the
public streets, alleys and highways of said Nevada City, for a period of twenty-five (25) years
and
WHEREAS, it is proposed to grant the same to
the highest bidder inthe m.noer provided by
law.
Now, THEREFORE, BEIT RESOLVED: That the
structed, to advertise in the DaILy TRarSCRIPT, anewspaper published in the City of
Nevada, State.of California for ten (10) eonsecutive days the following notice of intention to
award a F;auchise granting the aforesaid privileges to the highest. bidder, in ths following
words, to-wit :
NOTICE OF SALE OF FRANCHISE.

Trustees of. the City of Nevada, County
of Nevada, State of California, has
received application for a franchise to
construct a gas plant,ana operate the same,and
to Iay down, maintain and operate all the pecessary appliances for the same,.in the public
st: eets of the City of Nevada for the period of
twenty-five (25) years, and that it is proposed
to grant the same to the highest bidder, and
that the said Board of Trustees wil!, on the
28th day of March, 1895, at 8 o’elock P.M,
meet in the City Hall of the City of Nevada, in
open session, for the purpose of opening sealed
proposals forthe purchase of a Franchise of
the character and for the term set forth below,
at which time and pine sid Franehise will be
awarded to the highest bidder.
Bids will be received by the Board for the
purchase of the said Fracchise upto 2 o'clock
p. M. of March 28th, 18/5, aud all bids must be
accompanied by a check for the amount of
the bid.
The following is a copy of the Ordinance,
which is proposed to be passed, awarding to
the successful bidder the aforesaid Franchise,

The Board of Trustees of the City of Nevada
do ordain as follows:
SECTION 1.
The City of Nevada hereby grants to

pipes or conduits underground, maintain and

same inthe public streets, alleys and thorough fares in said City of Nevada,
SECTION 2.
in a workmanlike manner as not to interfere
with travel upon said streets. ;
SECTION 3.
The said grantee or assigns may: make all necessary excavations in any of said streets, highwaye or alleys forthe purpose of maintaining
said Gas pee for Illumination insaid streets,
and gaid work shall be done in compliance
which may, during the continuance of.this
Franchise be adopted from time to time by the
Board of Trustees of ssid City, end shall be
done to the satisfaction of said Board of Trustees.
SECTION 4,
Nothing in this @rdinance shall be construed
as in any wise to prevent the proper authorities
of said City of Nevada from sewering, grading,
paving, repairing or altering any’ of said streets,
alieys or thorough fares.
SECTION 5. .
The rights, privileges and Franchises herein
granted shall continue and be in force for the
period of twenty five (25) years from and after
the date of the passage of this Ordinance,
Section 6,
Work on said Gas plaht shall be commenced
within One Year from'date of the passige of
this Ordinance, and completed within two
years from the date of the passage of the samr,
and in default 6r neglect thereof this Franchise
shall be forfeited.
3 SECTION 7.
The Ordinance shall take effect and be in
force from and after twenty days after its pas
sage.
The blank words in this Ordinance will
filled in upon its passage by inserting the nam: §
of the successful bidder.

streets, alieys and public highways in the ‘City
of Nevada, and to exercise the privilege of operating telephones within the said City.
The Bo of Trustees of the City of Nevada
do ordsin as follows:
SECTION 1. -The City of Nevada hereby grants
to the Sunset’Telephone and Te'egraph Co., its
successors and sateen, the right and privilege to
place, lay, erect, maintain and operate in the
streets, alleys and puplic bighways within said
city, poles, wires end other conductors for the
transmission of electricity for telephone and
telegraph pu Bes.
SEcTION.2. Such wires or conductors shall be
stretched upon roles or other fixtures above
ground in a workmanlike and proper manner;
said poles shall be erected at the edge of the
sidewalke in said City in a good and substantial
manner and shall be painted. Said grantee and
its assigns shal} cause a wire to be placed in the
oe Hall of said City with a proper receiver
and.transmitter, which they shall’ keep in
condition and which shali be open to use of the
City Marsha), or other.City Officers at all times,
for police or fire alarm purposes, free of charge.
The Board of Trustees of said City shall have
the right to cause said grantee to move the location of any pole whenever the public convenience shall require the location of the same
elsewhere; the expense of such removal to be
paid by said grantee.
Section 3. The said grantee, or assigns, may
