Shovel Off the ice.
There is a city ordinance which requireg all property owners within the
corporate limits to have their sidewalks cleared of snow as soon as possible after the storm has ceased, This
duty has been well performed by the
majority of our citizens, in the case of
the recent. snowtall, buat there are
still many who have yet neglected to
clear their walks and as a result the
melting snow changes into ice at night,
making it extremely difficalt and dangerous for pedestrians going down
apy grades, even when rabbers are
ased. It is a noticeable fact that snow
vanishes very quickly on cement or aspbhalt walks, whereas on wooden sidewalks it disappears very slowly when
once it freezes,
If every tenant and property owner
would be prompt to obey this ordinance, the benefits resulting to the
‘public generally would be greatly increased and the good work appreciated
