O. L. Canfield and. other San Francisco parties, in conjunction with 6
number of Eastern’ capitalists, have

the State. As the work progresses,
the force of employes will be increased

The City Thoroughtares
Being Put in Fine
Condition.
Superintendent of Streete Shearer is
receiving much praise for the work he
has done on the several thoroughfares
about town. The City Trustees are
also being complimented for their
action in the matter, and the new work
is still going abead. Mr, Shearer and
provements on Arietocracy Hill yesterday, and the work has been well
done, Several hundred leads of rock
from the Wyoming dump were used,
and the street now, presents a good
appearance. This morning the Superintendent and his crew started in
to clean off and level up Sacramento
street. It is to te made as presentable as possible, thus giving the many
visitors from below a good impression of ourclity. Gocd streets denote
thrift and enterprise, and outsiders
usually observe matters of this kind.
Commercial street is to be attended
to as soon ae the present work
leading into town is finished.
Our streets are now in better condition than they have been for several years, and, as stated before, the
good work is to go right along.

Mr. Dunkley, who was aged 81 years
and 4 months, was raised in Grass
Valley and belonged to Quartz Parlor
of Netive Sons, under whose auspices
the funeral willl be held. He was
at one time Deputy Assessor of this
cousty.and while discharging his datall with whom he came in contact,
and the news of his untimely death.
