Who Is Totally Deaf.
Ah Cow is the name of a Chinaman ‘whe+-.,.
was sent te the county jail a long time ago
or some equally serious charge. He was
incarcerated a long time and finally discharged without having a trial. His case
was a singular one. He is stone deaf and
consequently the complaint could not be
read to him, as the law provides, nor could
he read it himself. After consulting by
letter with the Atterney General regarding
the matter, the District Attorney. concluded
to dismiss the case. The Chinaman left the
jail and went back to Moote’s Flat to live.
Yesterday he returned here and going
straight to the county jail asked to be admitted. He says he wants to stay there.
The jail officials have taken him in temporarily. Ah Cow can speak English a little,
but is totally deaf and therefore unable to
hear anything that is said to him.
