Brown, a negro bootblack, is dead, and
Willard E. Griffin, a cvlored tamale
vender, is in jail, charged with his murder. Early last evening Brown called
at Griffin’s stand and asked for credit,
which was refused. Later he returned
and with a companion began throwing
disbes at Griffin’s head. A kercsene
lamp was overturned and ignited the

shot rang out, and Brown fell. with. &
