On Gheir Gravels. RZ D. pa and Pz R Lord in Southern Catifornia. By a letter received in Nevada City we learn that.R. D. Gammoe and A. R. Lord, who are. visiting the Encampmente of Odd Fellows in the different parts of the State, are now in Southern California. Everywhere they go they flad the Encampments flourishing, end are hospitably received. Every place they -visit they meet some former Nevada Oountyans, and they always manifest great interest conoerning the welfare of their old homes. Mr. Gummoe ie the Grand Patriarch of the Encampment, and Mr. Lord is. assisting him in his work. At Los Angeles. they met S. A. B finch, who at one time was a ‘we 4 known worker in our publie schools. He is now the substantial and prosperous agent of the Union Ice Co.’s big establishment. Joe Long, the old-time painter, has grown etout and has a very comfortable look. Mrs. Nettie Ludlow, daughter of A. H. Parker, whose husband owns one of the principal drug stores in Los Angoles. And many others that. have taken their money and energy to build up. different parts of the State. The leading hotel in Pomona, where they stopped, was part of the estate of the late Sam Caldwell, the one time ;. draggist of Moore’s Flat. At San Diego they were greeted by Bob Oarter. He looks as smooth and as tastily dressed as be did when he was our “dandy” Sheriff. In fact they say Bob was the best preserved man they ever saw. L. Nibell has been doing some heavy contracting, and is still very busy. Al Melia fe de walking, aronnd’ with the same dignified appearanee as of old.
