Chimneys Condemned.
_ Yesterday afternoon Chief Engineer
Phil Scadden and Marshal “Tompkins
made a thorough examination of the
brick chimneys at the Union Hotel, and
condemned seven of them. One of them
will have to be rebuilt from the first
floor and all the others from the
second floor. There were cracks ‘in
them, caused by the late fire, and were
regarded as being unsafe. This will
retard the work now going on, and
cause a delay in the re-opening of the
hotel.
