Evidences of improved business conditions are found in almost every spot in the United States. A single instance of this is given by Congressman Weaver of Ohio, who says of the village of Troy in that State, that the output of the wagon works at that place in August, 1897, was $20,200 against $3,200 in August of last year; in September, ~~ 4997, $17,700 against $5,600 in September of last year; in October, 1897, $26,400 against $7,300 in October of last year. The Piqua Rolling Mill, located in the same district, reports a larger sale of iron in the last 17 weeks than for the entire year of 1896. 4 THE revival of all industries and the commencement.of prosperity in all parts of the United States were the natural and necessary results of the action of the President and a Republican Congress.”—John Sherman. ———— , Eprrons and statesmen who holda aversion to protective tariffs in general and Dingley tariffs in particular are strenuously denying that the Republican tariff has anything to do with the return of prosperity.
