* Summarized Mention of Minor Home
Happenings
The new cottage that M. L. Marsh has
had built on Boulder street, just below the
lumber office, is nearly completed.
Carpenters have started to work to repair
the damage done by fire to Mrs, Robbins
house on Piety Hill.
W. D. Vinton is arranging his Christmas
goods, of which he has just received: a fine
stock, including the latest noveities.
Ed. McCauley and Henry Breed went
over to Cherokee yesterday on a hunting
trip and brought back a fine buck deer.
The Democratic County Centra] Committee met in this city Saturday to settle
up the business relating to the recent cam paign. .
Constable Richards brought Pat O’Don"
‘nell up from Grass Valley this afternoon to
serve twenty days in the county jai] for
disturbing the peace. :
The ranchers in: the lower part of. the
county are wishing for rain, which they say
is needed very much, It looks as though
their wishes are soon to be granted,
Chickens and turkeys will be in demand
this week. Peddlers of poultry will begin
to show up by tomorrow. They have been
backward about getting around this season,
The building put up on the Grass Valley
road where William Seaman had a blacksmith shop at one time, is to be used asia
storehouse for kerosene by George E. Turner.
The two Grass Valleyans who visited the
tamale shop Friday night and skipped out
without paying for what they eat, were
arrested Saturday and fined, one of them
being assessed $10, the other $11.50.
A new crossing is being put down trom
Johnston’s grocery store to A, Lademan’s
residence, Broad street, and one from Johpston’s to the sidewalk near A. Blumenthal’s
residence.’ :
The walk to Pine Grove Cemetery, from
the end ot the wooden sidewalk to the
burying ground, is in good shape now. It
is of gravel with granite curbing on each
side, The cost of this improvement was
paid by several of the lodges and by the
city. E. D. Bridges, who did the work,
also contributed.
Making Good . Headway.
James Gross and John Coan, the conee ee okempy vhew OVWre wewele fur
the new bridge, are making good progress
and the work is being done in the best manner. The abutment on the Plaza side will
be well up by the end of this week should
.the weather remain pleasant. The old tim' bers and other debris have been removed
from the opposite bank where the other
abutment is to be built. This. can be put
up quicker than the other one, as it will not
be so high and there is a natural. foundation upon which to build the wall. About
twelve men are at work, and the tiumber of
spectators that are on hand to watch them
gives the vicinity a lively appearance.

is near at hand. There is a demand for
houses now and it will increase by another
year. Next summer there will be a lot of
new houses built in and around this city.
Desirable building lots are getting: scarce
inside the city limits and‘it will not be long
before every available piece of ground will
have a house upon it, A number of large
town lots have been divided up into smaller
ones within the past few years and there
are now very few of these big lots left.
People who wish to put up dwellings will
soon have to buy ground outside the corporation. There is plenty of land near town
and there are a number of nice houses outside the limits, but nene of them are vacant,

ever tried; and, in my judgment, no
better general remedy could be devised.
T have used“ thenr in niy family and
recommended them to.my friends and
employes for more than twenty years. i
To my certain knowledge, many cases
of the following complaints have been
completely and
Permanently Cured
by the use of Ayer’s Pills alone: Third
day chills, dumb ague, bilious fever,
sick headache, rhéumatism, flux, dyspepsia, constipation, and hard colds. I
know that a moderate use of Ayer’s
Pills, continued for a few days or weeks,
as the nature of the complaint required,
‘would be found an absolute cure for the
disorders I have named above.”
