Impurities im the Llood produce diseases, Bodily and mental health depend upon s heaitiy condition of the blood, The blood, particularly im the spring and during the hot summer months, becomes clogged with impurities, which polsun if and generate disease, A harmless blood purifier, without a partic’e of mineral po:son in it, such as mercury cr potash, is necessary to remove these lunpuriccs and to restore the healthy tone of mini and body. The Lest purifier and tonto known tothe world is Swift's Specific (8.8.8, iu regard t6 its wonderful JWurifying and tonie powers we give a few testimonials as follows: Mr. Wm. A. Stebold, with Geo. P. Rowell & Co., 1S; .ruce Street, New York, writes March baszor Bet Si: “T feel it my duty, for the benefit of others who may be afficted as I was, to W.i.s you this letter, which you can use as my ‘estimony Inany way you choose. I will answer any inquiry from others in relation to the facts herewith stated. In February lust Lsuffered great pain and inconvenience from boils, all over my neck; I could not turn my head without acute pain and my blood was in poor condition; After trying all the tsual renicdies in such cases, and finding no relief, by the persuasion of Mr. J. W. Fears, Manager of your New York Office, I used one bottle 8.8. S, and I linproved rapidly and very soon I was entirely relieved of my “ Job’s.Comforters.”” Now not a sign of my afflic:ion can be seen. I feel strong and cheer. ful, S, 8, 8. isa fine tonic as proved in my case, I sleep soundly and m, appetite is good. Dr.J.N. Cheney, a well-known physician writes from Ellaville, Georgia: “I use 8. 8. 8, in convalescent fever cases with the best re-sults. It will, in my judgment, prevent sumtier dysentery, if one will take a few bottles tn the spring, thus preparing the bowels for the strains of summer.” Mrs. Scott Liston, 116 Zane street (Island), Wheeling, West Virginia, writes: “Having used 8. 8,8. for the blood, I can safely say thatit beats anything I have used to cleanse the blood and make a new being out of a person.” Mr. M. 8. Hamlin, Winston, N. C., writes; “I use itevery spring. It always builds foxy up, giving nie appetite and digestion, and enabling me to stand the long, trying, ener. vating hot summer days. Mrs. Sherwood Defines the Talk of 8oclety—“ Suiall Talk ** Described. .' What is that language, the most complicated, curious finished in all the world, ‘which the greatest of men have regretted that they could not learn, but which the lightest of minds have excelled in, the language most indispensable to women, most useful co men, the talk of society? With its ready quotations, its wisdom, seriousness, and with gravity which isnot ponderous, and sage ee which is not frivolous, cate the aroma of thé moessence ‘of culture, now for an instant pedantic, syet suggesting a lifetime of patient reading, the conversation of the good talker is the bighest result of the best training of this fugitive thing which we call our mind. : This talk of society, no doubt, should always be generous. Give and take must be ite:motto. It must be lightand not wearisome; neither: selfish, repititious, nor egotistical. It should be choral and antiphonal. We areno longer soloists, but a part ‘of that chorus which goes on forever, One must use one’s mind to: become a good talker. It is/like the practice of any other art— a talent first, and then a talent cultivated. One must not imagine that a sudden rush of: brilliant ideas will flood the soul of -an agreeable convetsationist without the naturgl exercise of an average intellirence. j That which is called ‘small talk,” which may be 1 set of agreeable nothings about the weather, but which becomes an interchange of civilities, thoughts, and ideas on general subjects, all this forms the basis of conversation between new acquaintances, and should’ take for its first principle the consideration, as toa subject, of something which shall prove agreeable to the individual with whom idly of the person’s age, social position, known proélivities and pursuits, so as to form an accurate idea of what to talk about. : A conversation created apropos of the moment, with no ulterior motive than that of being agreeable, such is: small talk. It maybe called the ‘current coin” of society; it isthe key to first pleasant impressions. To shine in small talk one needs intelligence, tact, good humor, and geniality, sympathy and adaptability, but no great ger 1s is needed such as is needed by the br.iant conversationist, as a. Macaulay, Sidney Smith, Tom Appleton, aud Evarts.—New York Sun. / “wave been informed that F speculating in stocks,” said the Poiiest to the cashier. ‘Give it u Take m advice, and be on the le side.” He. took his advice, and left for Canada that night. ’ Iris a singular fact; but nevertheless true, that when two youne men imeet they address each other, “How are you, old man?” and that when two old fellows’ meet they say, “My boy.” A BAcHEtor’s reverie—“W hat is there more variable than @ fickle woman's mind? Ah, -me; nothing, I marine. No! Not even New England weather. Brown: “How yous. eyes flashed white Miss De V uu were talking to ere, Jen es!” Jones: “Of course they did, my boy. I was sparking.” .
