We have ee learned that Mr. Adams, husband of the unfortunate woman, formerly lived in this city, in the seventies, He was at that time employed as a clerk by ‘‘Yankee’” Dodge, who kept a notion and variety store on lower Commercial street. Many of our citizens will remember him, He is now a prominent business man of Lincoln, mee Roll of Honor. Widman atid Fred Boeckman, Providence mine officials, arrived here Sunday evening from San Francisco, A.number of the members of the Nevada Light Guard returned on the special train this morning, Mrs, Chas. Kahl and children came up on the train this morning after.a month’s’ visit in San Joaquin county. The funeral of the late Mrs. S. C, Damon took place from the Methodist church Sunday afternoon and was largely attended. Miss Nannie Collins, who has been vis— iting the Misses Goyne, returned to her home at Grass Valley last evening. She was accompanied by Miss May Goyne. J. V. Hunter and wife arrived here Sunday evening from San Francisco, _ They are being given a cordial reception by their hosts of friends in this city, Chas. Webb Howard, President of the Spring Valley Water Company, arrived here Saturday in. company with Frank Page. They went up to the North Fork mine Sunday and returned yesterday.Hon. J. M. Last Sunday night Tom Coughlan, Nelse Frie and a third party njamed Garlic were riding along the little street in front of Seamau’s carriage factory jin a cart and in turning the corner the’ cjart collided with a rock and upset, throwjmg the men out, Garlic received the moz't serious injuries, having had one of his rilys broken. Major Heuer Examining the Channel as to Navigation. oe The Red Bluff Sentinel says: Major W. H. Heuer, Lieut. C. E. Gillette, and a crew of four men came down the Sacramento river from Redding in, a boat Wednesday. The boat belongs to the snag boat, Seizer, which is at work on the river twelve miles below Red Bluff, and was shippéd to Redding by rail, ‘he party started from there ‘at 5 o'clock Wednesday morning and reached here at 3:30 in the afternoon, Maj. Heuer; Lieut. Gillette and Col.
