Nevada City, Nevada County, se trict is keeping the roads under his care'in splendid condition for the limited funds which he has at his disposal for that purpose. On the San Juan road, just-below the watering tank this side of Rock creek, astone wall has been constructed to prevent the road from sliding off into the ravine, a8 it has been in danger of doing. The turnpike between this city and Grass Valley has been greatly improved in the neighborhood of Glenbrook Park by putting on 150 loads of rock from the dump pile of the New England mine, In due time, when the rocks have been worn down a little by travel that will be _ one of the best piece of artificial road-bed in the county.
