Riley today announced that the elimination of the state relief administration had reduced the cost of state government in the fiscal year which ended last June 30 to. the lowest point in five years. Expenses other than relief jumped . $16,569,548 over the preceding fiscal . ' year, but the termination of the dole saved $25,984,46. enough to offset the increases and give a net decrease of $9,324,598 in the total cost off state government compared with} 1940-41, Riley said. Expenditures in 1941-32 totaled $266,669,125 compared with $275,995,724 in the preceding year, Rilev said, a decrease of $9,324,598 or 2.378 per cent. Revenue in the year ended last June 30 amounted to 1$345,443,602, or $78,771,447 more than expenses.
