IN GLOBAL WAR Eddie Furano— Eddie Furano, son Gus has of Mrs. Huneke of, Sacramento street just completed a course at an air base near Shawnee, Oklahoma, and been sent to a field near San Antonio, Texas. He sent his mother a splendid picture of himself with his Wings and also sent this diploma home. Eddie is with a flight squadton. He is a graduate of the local schools and was employed by Robinsons Richfield station before _entering service. He is one of the most popular youths among his classmates and wide cirele of friends. . DPorsonal Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Fox of QOakland spent several days at their newly purchased home on. Grove street returning home Monday. They are remodeling the house purchased froin Mrs. Strandberg and will return it to its original appearance as near as possible. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Baker of Sacramento spent the past wesk end in Nevada City with Mrs. Minnie Young. Mrs. Baker is: the former Wilma Mieje of this city. _Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Horner and sén and Horner’s sister, Mrs. Ralston Adams of Sacramento are visiting Mr.:and Mrs. L. Land. The group enjoyed their Thanksgiving dinner at the Land home lastrevening. Mrs. Adams husband in a repair crew’ in aviation, is in England. Mrs. Carl Foote, in charge of obtaining 250 Christmas boxes for soldiers, invalid or injured, in the Camp Beale Station Hospital reports that the entire number have been subscribed and are now being delivered. 9 ‘Contributors were women of the Methodist Church 20 boxes, Native Daughters of the Golden’ West 19, Nevada City PTA 10, Evangeline i Chapter’ of Order of Bastern Star 100, and Trinity Guild of the Episcopal Church -50.
