Mr, Fortier’s business associations
date ‘back to 1923, when he entered
the employment of S. Lee Leiter, the
Lace House, after graduating from
Nevadia City high school about two
years previously. A few years later
in 1926, he joined the staff of the
Nevada County Bank, now the Bank
has been a valued official for many
years. He has taken a»keen interest
in the welfare of: Nevada City Lodge
of Euks, of which he is the present
secretary, and his activities in the
lodge and social hall will be greatly
missed. He has also been an active
worker, and ia vice president of the
local chamber of commerce.
Paraphrasing the sentiments of
hosts of friends of John Fortier who
view his departure with ‘mingled
gret, E. M. Rector, vice president of
the Bank of America, commented:
“John’s offer was just too good:a one
for him to refuse, nevertheless, he
will be sorely missed. In over thirty
five years af banking experience, I
have never known a more competent.
generous and. unselfish colleague,
nor a more sincere and devoted
friend. Nevada City’s loss will be the
outside world’s gain.”
