Beginning with your January bills electric rates will be reduced for home use, for commercial lighting and large industrial power, according to the amount of electricity used. Down goes the cost of electric cooking and water heating, lighting, for washing machines and ironers, and for all the smaller uses, from the electric clocks to the doorbell transformers, to the percolator and toaster that get the daily breakfast. Electricity becomes cheaper, too, to every merchant, large or small, and in all office buildings for commercial lighting of windows, stores, counters, signs, ft is important mews and good news that this etc. reduction will save Pacific Gas and Electric Company customers nearly $4,000,000 a year. Ic is unusual news in these days when general living costg are pushing higher and higher. Think of it! As shown in the chart above, the Cost of Living is UP 33.3% above the pre-war level. The cost of electricity with the new low: rates is 35.4% below that level—and that means 68.7% below today’s cost of living. ' Establishing a record unmatched by any other item in the cost of C living, the cost of electricity has steadily gone down since 1928. Successeve rate reductions since that 621,000—equivalent to an annu me show an accumulated total of $54,al saving to customers of over $6,800,000.
