Dr. Angove will assume the position on July 1. He suceeds Dr. William M. Winstead who recently died of cancer. The new superintendent is from a long-time family of the Grass Valley area. He graduated from Grass Valley High School in 1952 where he was an excellent student and excelled in sports. He received a football scholarship to Stanford and starred there as a defensive halfback. Dr. Angove is presently serving. as vice president of Modesto Junior College. At the age of 40, he becomes one of the youngest persons in the state to be named to this position. He was chosen from more than 90 applicants. He has been at Modesto since 1968 and has served in his present position since 1973. .
