Tree Light
Warning
With Christmas only a few
weeks away, a warning on
the hazards of decorating
aluminum Christmas trees
with electric lights was
issued today by John F. Henning, Director of the State
Department of Industrial
Relations.
Henning stated that aluminum is almost as good a conductor of electricity as
copper, and that if there is
any defective of faulty wiring the entire tree could become an exposed “hot wire, "

Henning.
Henning also cautioned
against the fire hazards of
Christmas trees other than
aluminum, and listed the!
following safety rules,
Place the tree as far away
as possible from fireplaces,
radiators and other sources of

Don't place the tree where
it could block exit from a
room in case of fire or emergency.
Use approved electrical

Inspect the light set for any
frayed, damaged, or worn
parts, and repair or discard
them if defective.

Nevada City Club met at
Seaman’s Lodge Nov. 19.
President Victor Engstrom
presided. We had several
project and committee reports.
Mrs. Ayala; leader, asked
that because of such a large
club, the older members
help ,the newer members
with their projects, A com‘mittee was picked to decide
on the carols to be sung
and where to go. The committee members are Linda
Vonah, chairman; Cathy
Wilcox, Marion Ayala, Wynona. Heiser.
A lot of. discussion was
given to the Christmas party and it was decided to
bring gifts to the older
people at the County Hospital, the ones who live
there all the time. Each gift
is to be marked whether it
is for a man or a woman.
The Christmas dinner meeting was held Sunday, Dec.
11. The following committee picked and planned, and
prepared the food: Jack
Costa, chairman; Heélen
Wilcox, Barry Castles, Dorothy Lewis, Bruce Ayala,
and Sarah Warner. The
decoration committee was
chosen as follows: Victor
Engstrom, chairman; Dale
Jacobsen, Robin Pearson,
Carole Wilcox, and Deborah
Neilson.

Two Plead Guilty To Taking Trees
in 1955 and 1957 respectively. Both men were brought
under indictment by the
Federal Grand Jury in September of 1960 after the
presentation of evidence by
the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest
Service.
“Slim” Woodruff, who recently served a sentence for
asimilar act on government
land under the jurisdiction of
the Bureau of Land Managemént, was placed on probation for three years by
Judge Sherrill Halbert of the
court.
