RICH GOLD VEIN OPENED IN
Recent Rains Uncover Gold Ore
The Nevada City section
of the new freeway has
not only been a long time
problem ofdelays, unusual construction problems but as most of the
old timers in the County
know it literally traverses the course of famed
Deer Creek. Deer Creek
is famous for its gold
mines of the past.
This week, while probing along its course and
examing the cuts and fills
of the freeway for possible pictures on rocks and
boulders, George Brooks,
Nugget Ad-man and photographer, suddenly
came upon a rich quartz,
vein, thatwill undoubtedly prove once again
that the old time miners
were right. There is still
GOLD. ALONG THAT
CREEK!!
Deer Creek once echoed
the sounds of rolliking
miners' voices about the
strike or rich pocket of
gold they had found. It
can come to life again as
a result of Brook's find
just off main street in
Nevada City.
The gold bearing ledge
was apparently uncovered
during the recent heavy
flooding of Deer Creek as
a result of the heavy rains
and change of flow.
This Creek whose constant flow to lower country
has carved its chosen
path through granite quartz and serpentine, must
‘laugh at the attempts of
men trying to disturb its
‘hoards of raw gold.
The ledge as seen in
the photo shows the gold
bearing vein; (note arrow
that indicates the deposit). Experts inthe
field say it will go $125
per ton, if mined and
milled. If this figure is
correct you could make
or lose a fortune ina
short time.
Mother nature has a
. technique she uses to
keep treasures for herself, and has been known
to be cruel to intruders,
however this should
point out to our government the fact that the precious metal is still available inthis locale if the
price for gold is raised
enough to have it produced within the bounds
of our economy.
Perhaps the noise of a
stamp mill will be heard
again and all of che sounds
that indicate that the
mines of old are at work
again.
This new strike and discovery means very little
to this writer as he finds
NEVADACITY
more real gold in the
people of these two towns
each day than has ever
been extracted from the
earth.
The scintillating truth
is that right here in Nevada City there is a new
freeway, costing millions, that runs directly
through tons of valuable
gold bearing quartz,
which if mined properly
would bring untold wealth
to our country and prosperity to our County.
Mr. Brook's discovery
and the samples he has
taken from the ledge
prove once again that the
49'nrs were so right;
"THERE IS/ GOLD IN
HERE ISA CLOSE-UP picture of the vein of gold
bearing quartz laying under the watery flow of Deer
Creek, in Nevada City. Note the color as pointed
out by the arrow. ;
Samples of he Deer
Creek Quartz are on
display at the offices of
the Nevada County Nugget.
Mr. George Marchetti,
Assayer Chemist of Grass
Valley after a careful
assay of samples taken
from the ore vein, reports a value of $125.50
per ton, which is broken
down at $125.10 Gold
