St. Nick Arrives
by Fire Truck
Just like in most cities
the world over, Santa
Claus came to Nevada
City. His arrival Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
was well advertised and
when he came across the
Broad Street Bridge to be
greeted by hundreds of
happy. little folks there
.was a scene of bedlam.
This trip he took aboard
ahuge red Fire Truck
with the siren blowing.
The kids met with Santa
and discussed their wants
for Christmas. The old
fellow visited with them
to their enjoyment and
marched up and down the
street greeting each of
them with a special favor.
Special music wag furnished by the "Hungry
Five" German Band who
played Christmas music
with a strong German
Accent to the delight of
everyone present.
A Choral group marched up and down the
street singing Christmas
carols which made the
arrival of Santa in Nevada
City the starting of a
happy and Merry Christmas Season. At 5 p.m.
all business places in
Nevada City turned their
special lights on to illuminate their fresh green
native Christmas trees.
To all youngsters who
came to visit Santa; Saturday was their red letter day and will be long
remembered.

that it be permited to
supply chlorinated water
only to the Grass ValleyNevadaCity area. The
reason given was that to
supply treated water
would entail an unreasonable expense... Staff
members supported by
Doctors groups in the two
localities joined in united
action against easing of
the water purification order. The district had
earlier provided interim
cholorination on three delivery systems. . It must
now provide for 11 additional systems to protect the health of its customers,
