Adjacent counties with related gold historical areas would also be under the commission's jurisdiction. "I am concerned", said Chappie, "that unless we take immediate steps, the great heritage of the Mother Lode will be either lost or destroyed forever. The discovery of gold at Coloma in 1848, was the direct cause of ties making up the Mother Lode. The commission would be authorized to -accept donations from. any private or public source to implement its purposes and would be deposited in a Mother Lode Historical Preservation Fund. Occupancy at SNMH through January, Casey said, was 99.5 per cent, and Miners was 98.3 per cent full, He said he thought Nevada General Hospital was close to 100 per cent also. Starting into the second month of the year, SNMH had 47 patients for a 42+bed hospital and Miners 24 patients for its 21 beds. The extra beds were in hallways, said Casey. Marysville and Yuba City hospitals also reported a decrease flu patients with Rideout Hospital, Marysville, indicating 80 to 82 per cent occupancy this week, Malcolm Hammill, chairman flu cases, Sierra Memorial had pins patients in the hall Thursed that emergency cases grown 10 times in the hoss decade of existence-in its first year
