Street, Nevada Cit , = : ta Davis second in track race at Santa Clara SANTA CLARA = Nevada county's road runner on wheels, Don Davis, switched to an enclosed oval last weekend and finished second in the state track bicycle championship, The Nevada City teen-ager is more practiced at distance bicycle competition up and down hills and across country, while the youth who beat him, Antonio Gato of San Jose, is a specialist at closed track cycling, Still, Davis was tied with Gato for the state junior championship after regulation events were completed. They settled the issue in a sprint runoff which Gato won, The second place finish qualifies Davis for a try at the national junior championship in the track event. Next weekend, Davis will compete at Santa Rosa in the state junior cross country competition.
