Volunteers for financial assistance in 1965-66, Over half of the 3,500 Volunteers who have returned for two year assignments overseas are enrolled in school, according to Dr, Calvert. "Because of the unpaid service nature of their Peace Corps commitment, many of these former Volunteers need scholarships, fellowships or assistantships to continue their education, " he said. : Dr. Calvert attributes the Volunteer's interest in graduate studies toa formulation of career goals during Peace Corps service. Atthetime they joined the Peace Corps, 34.4 per cent of the Volunteers were unclear or had no career goal.
