The Tour seems to be a race for successive wins, Bob Tetzlaff of Campbell w on the first two years and Parsons won the last three years. But few thought Parsons could take it four times in a row. There were about 60 other cyclists in the race trying to make sure that he did not win again this year, but someone forgot to tell Parsons about it. Parsons stayed in with the pack of. front runners for most. of the 45 mile senior event and the lead changed hands several times, He was pressed hard by runner-up Dave Brink of Berkeley and Brink took over the lead several times. In addition to this, the board learned that even if it could use the junior high which it now appears it cannot, state law does not make any provision for budgeting for such a program, State Department officials told Grass Valley that they could do what they wanted, but if they went ahead with the proposed one year junior high program, the State Department would withold apportionments to the district. Faced with these problems, the board decided to goto the alternative of using portable classrooms at the Hennessy School site. The program originally (Cont, on page 19 col 4) Goes To Committee For Negotiation T he proposal to turn the historic Ott’s Assay office into a post office went back to the committee Monday night after the city council received and

The company will also create a parking lot adjacent tothe building. At the end of.the 50 year period, the building and property will revert to the city free and clear, Council members felt that the documents contained sufficient information to start negotiation with the company and voted to turn the matter back to the council committee composed of Councilman Bob Paine and Joe Day, Jr. son named himself as an alternate to the city committee. _ Thecouncil accepted the tentative budget of the fire department. The major new item is the purchase of a new switchboard for the fire alarm system. This item of $5,740 will be paid for over a two year period. The council also reviewed the police department budget, but withheld acceptance until the next budget session.
