Due to the lack of publicity given this latest proposal by Supervisor Filer, pertaining to the Western Nevada County Park, a gift from Boise Cas2) @@@® @ OOOO OOOO 000000000000 00D 000000000000 OO » Penn Valley News By ELSIE DILLBERG cade, a group of interested, concerned citizens from Mr. Filer's district strongly recommend that an open hearing be held at a future date, At this point the supervisors unanimously agreed to an open hearing on Feburary 29. In my column of last week i stated that this was to be a Penn Valley Park, and I nowretract that statement. I was misinformed. This gift from Boise Cascade is to the people of Nevada county and as such will benefit all the people. There have been numerous meetings held this past week by the Western Nevada County Park Group. They have secured some 600 signatures from citizens giving their endorsement of the grou's position that the supervisors fulfill their obligation to the people of Western Nevada county in acceptance of the original plan from Boise Cascade. Numerous people from all over Western Nevada county have expressed their feelings that we definitely need a county park in this area. By Idabel Covert News Rain, rain, rain, on Thursday we thought it would never stop; but at last the sun is out. Bob Slyter who records our rainfall for the weather bureau, informed me that last week we had a total rainfall of 5.68 inches. On Thursday alone we had almost two inches (1.98). Our total rainfall for Feb. (excluding Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, not recorded as of this writing) has been 6.45 inches, Average for Feb. is 6.65 in. This month last year was very low 1.38 in Feb. 1970 was 5.43 in. These figures make it seem that the rainfall is about average, but the total rainfall todate is low. Bob has agreed to provide me with the rainfall information at the end of each month. We hope it will be of interest to you. For those who may hav missed my column a few weeks ago, Mr. Slyter has a book on sale about the Washington area. “Historical Notes of The Early Washington, Nevada County, California Mining District." x * OK OK The ladies of Washington have been asked to meet at the hotel dining room on March 8th at 11 a.m. for coffee and a discussion about forming a fire auxiliary. * kK Ok OK The Washington Community .
