Thisshiny yellow blossom, swaying in the cool spring breeze on straggly, sparsely-leaved stems, may be found in every field and byway at this time of year. Other species, both larger and smaller may be found all summer long in such places as wet meadows, along streams and bogs, and bordering high mountain lakes like a halo. Waxy yellow petals encircle a fluffy center which offers havento little black bugs, the combination a very pretty sight. These petals turn white with age but more bright blossoms continue to appear late into the summer. SPAIN G DELIVERED IN SIERRS MODERN COOLER? TO Choose From WATER 5 GAL. Roberts said the county has already seen the conflicts of growth, and that he is told by real estate brokers that many potential investors are reluctant to move to the county untilthey are assured of the right kind of zoning to protect their investment. The planning director explained that the Nevada County. Planning Commission is beginning consideration of a new zoning ordinance to replace one that has had little: use in the nine years of its life in the county. Roberts emphasized that there is no precise zoning of particular areas proposed at thistime, althoigh the commission is continuing to accept petitions for precise zoning under present regulations. ’ Under the existing ordinance, there have been only four precise zones establishedin nine years: a strip along RidgeRd., the Wheeler Acres subdivision, the Donner Lake area, and Union Hin. © Roberts told the Rotarians Nevada City in precise zoning. "The reason zoning has not been done is mainly because the ordinance as it is now written does not encourage proper development of zoned area," he ex. plained. The purpose of zoning ist o designate suitable areas for the various uses of land for agriculture, industry, business, residential, and other purposes, hesaid, andto encourage orderly development of these areas. Roberts explained that it isthe responsibility of elected representatives to enact zoning regulations. In the current study of a new zoning ordinance, the planning commission must hold one public hearing befor making its report and recommendations to the supervisors. The supervisors must then hold a hearing before adopting the ordinance. Roberts urged all interested residentsto make their opinions known to planning commissioners and supervisors. The current ordinance, adopted in 1954, places all except precisely zoned areas ofthe county in an A-1 district, which permits any use except certain named uses which are required to obtain a special permit.
