Mos-_ cone said that some of the "vastly proliferated. bureaucracies" could be eliminated if the state and federal governments assumed responsibilities for some of the programs, Assemblywoman March Fong (D-Oakland) challenged the assessors to become more active
in property tax legislation. "You (assessors) should be playing a strong and aggressive roll in the generation of tax reform programs," The assessors elected Phil Watson of Los Angeles as president, “Donald B, Drew, Kings county, first vice president; Charles G. Clark, Claveras county, second vice president, and re-elected Marian Baker, Yolo county, secretary, and R. J. McMullen, Sonoma county, treasurer. a reation, wildlife management, conifer nursery, water management, and natural forest seedling thinning for Christmas trees will be shown to the public as follows: 1 p.m. — McBurney Tree Farm — Cedar Ridge; 2 p.m. — Murphy Ranch — Peardale; 2:30 p.m. — Poteete pasture — Peardale; 3 p.m. — Ruess tree farm — Chicago Park; 4 p.m. “-Weiss Brothers Nursery — Chicago Park; 5 p.m. — Bierwagen orchard — Chicago Park. Colfax Highway Association Executive Secretary Joe Ruess, co-chairman of the tour, announces "camp stew" at Peardale Firehouse from 6 to.8 p.m. followed by speakers with colored slides and public discussion. Ted Waddell and Dick Wheeler, California Division of Forestry, will be speakers on the tour. Gene Andreucetti, Soil Conservation Service, will show ponds and wildlife management on the tour and at the evening meeting. Wednesday, October 1, 1969 The Nevada County Nugget 3 Golden anniversary fete for Carroll Searls MR, AND MRS, CARROLL SEARLS greet their guests Saturday at a luncheon to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. The Searls, now residents of New Rochelle, N. Y., were married at Trinity Episcopal Church 50 years ago this month, A few of the original wedding party were present Saturday including the groom's brother and two sisters-in-law and two cousins of the bride. The 180 guests had lunch in the Victorian Room following cocktails in the lobby and onthe terrace ofthe hotel.
