NEVADA CITY---The annual
Santana Task Force was activated recently by the Calif

As in the past, men and
equipment from Northern
California are shipped to
Southern California to augment the Calif. Division of
Forestry forces of this portion
ofthe state, The term "Santana" is derived from the localname of the annual winds,
i.e. Santa Ana, The Santana Task Force is normally
activated through the end of
December, unless a more
severe fire weather pattern
develops in Southern California,
The Nevada-Yuba Ranger
Unit of the California Division of Forestry will send two
firetrucks with a foreman and
truck driver with each truck
and these men are relieved
at three week intervals
through the duration of the
stay.
