Action on the proposal was held over to next Tuesday. This new zoning classification, which would allow combination of agricultural. with other zones, would also eliminate: agriculture asa_ separate zone. Instead, agriculture would have a "U" or unclassified zone. The proposal also redefines several terms. It also spells out minimum restrictions on building sites, R-l use of back yards. The proposal is in the form od an amendment tothe zoning code now in effect. The new classification is also connected to the controversial” Bitney's Springs rezoning, but Bitney's was not the subject of Tuesday's hearing. The proposal for Bitney's is to zone it to a combined district, so a hearing cannot be held on it unless the supervisors put the combined zone into the ordinance. Nevada County Nugget Has New Editor Publishers of the Nevada County Nugget announce the appointment of Garrett M (Garry) Stack as managing editor. Stack, who most recently had been city editor of the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, Bozeman, Montana, for the past six years, Garrett M. Stack arrived in Nevada City on Labor Day with his wife, Polly, and two of their five children: Taylor, 12, and Roland, 6. Two of their four boys, Peter, 15, is attending school in San Diego and Garrett Ill, 16, is at school in Port LaVaca, Tex, A daughter, Mrs, (Con't on Pg. 16) Local Man Critically Injured James Frederick Cleek, 47, remained in critical condition with a head injury Tuesday according to a Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital report, Cleek injured when he fell from a moving pickup truck loaded with furniture on which he was
sitting. Cleek fell when a table toppled to the ground and landed in a ditch on his head alongside the broken table, the California Highway Patrol reported. He was riding on a load of furniture being moved by Nancy Janice Cleek, 25, 351 E. Bennett Street, Grass Valley. Jury Hands Indictment A fifth indictment was returned by the Nevada County Grand Jury at its night session last week, but the indictment was not made public until his arrest last Wednesday afternoon at 1:40, The jury handed down an indictment against Michael Robert Marcher, 20, of Nevada City, charging him with possession of marijuana, Following his arrest Marcher posted $2,200 bail and was released pending further court action, _ Published Wednesdays, Nevada City CONSTITUTION DAY CEREMONY--Nevada City Mayor Arch MaPhatern ; portraying George Washington, reads the Preamble to the United States Constitution during amock signing of the document held here last Sunday.
