Have you ever given real
thought to what a Park Ranger's
life is like on the job? Administering a park is very like
administering a small city; with
sewage, water, road -maintenance, law enforcement and
education problems to be handled
every day. Park Rangers must
necessarily be "Jacks of all
trades" capable of giving a
campfire program, conducting
trail hikes, helping hapless motorists with their malfunctioning vehicles, heading rescue
parties into the back country,
asking skinny dippers to cease
their improper behavior and get
Some clothing on pronto, picking
up runaway youngsters, finding
wanted persons for other agencies; or just riding herd on
litterbugs and those persons who
can't remember to extinguish
their campfires,
All these "chores," plus many
more too numerous. to detail
here, are part and parcel of
the average day's work for our
National and State Park Rangers,
And, bless them, they do their
thing for our pleasure and comfort .. efficiently and cheerfully. Remember it the next time
you visit a park or meet up with
a Ranger!

How often, while reading your
newspaper, have you said "I
don't see WHY they had to print
THAT!" You probably doit more
often than you can recall .. so
just remember this "If all the
printers were determined not to
print anything till they were sure
it would offend nobody, there
would be very little printed."
Benjamin Franklin said it first
ee. but many generations of
printers and publishers have
echoed his words since,

Anyone coming to this area
now should be reminded that this
is the time of the greatest fire
danger. For the past week we
have had what the Forest Service calls Very High FireDanger,.
They have put on more men to
patrol the National Forest and
have made void all fire permits, They do allow fires to
be built in fire places within the
camp grounds only. We all hope
we can get through this fire
season without a major fire in
our area, Let's all be careful,
